Local Theater

Boise has an active local theater group, putting on 7-8 plays per year. Last year Josh and I went to one, Twelve Angry Men, and loved the experience. It's something that we've talked about doing again, but had not been able to do so. Last night we were able to take in a second show, Leaving Iowa. What a fabulous date night!

Tickets are fairly inexpensive, $12/person, and include the show and a complementary coffee or soda during intermission. We were able to have a "dress-up" date night, and enjoyed the experience of being in the theater.

We also love the Broadway shows that come to Boise, but those are slightly more expensive. For now, we're thrilled to be able to attend shows at the Boise Little Theater, and become "theater people". :)

Macaroni Salad

I love macaroni salad. Not the kind you buy from the store, but real, home-made macaroni salad. Particularly Grandma's. So for years I've been trying to make it, and for years I've been disappointed in the results. It's always okay, but it's not like Grandma's.

Tonight I came very close. Still not quite perfect - but 95% there. It was sooooo yummy! And it reminded me of home. So, after dinner, while thinking of my grandparents, I couldn't help myself but to have a peanut butter milkshake and think about Saturday night dinners at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

I'm so blessed to have grown up knowing and interacting with my grandparents!

All in a day's work...

Yesterday I hosted the 2nd "I'm Going to College" experience at Stevens-Henager College... we had 48 6th-graders from one of the elementary schools come up to the campus for the day. They were able to complete a registration form a few weeks ago, so I registered them for four classes throughout the day... three of their choice, and a college planning class that all were required to take. The classes they registered for included management principles, accounting, computer servicing, medical asepsis, microbiology, and Photoshop.

We started the morning in a group, welcoming the students to the campus and passing out registration forms. From there, the students attended their four classes, then reconvened in the opening ceremonies room where we had pizza for all the students, and then they graduated from the program with a certificate of completion and were also provided a t-shirt.

Students in the management principles class, trying to figure out how to build the tallest Tinker-Toy structure.

The completion of the day - commencement!

Once I finished the experience, I picked up my bound copy of my thesis...

And returned to my office to find these flowers! My co-workers wanted to congratulate me for completing my thesis. :) One also made me spinach dip (a personal favorite!)... which I might have already finished. :)

Yesterday was a busy, exhausting, rewarding day!

It's official!

My thesis has been accepted. I am getting it bound this weekend, as directed, to have it available in the library, but am otherwise finished with my MBA program. YES!!!!!

My reward? New shoes. Seriously. I'm in love with them... I put them on as soon as I got up this morning.

Oh, and Josh and I will probably go to dinner this weekend. :)
